Travel Checklist

I've had my share of mishaps and forgotten essentials. Are you one of those people that struggles with packing and forgets things you really wanted to have with you? I know I am.


I feel like I always forget some of the most important little things. Making sure you don't forget the essentials can be stressful, so here is a basic packing list and checklist to help you stress less. I live by this list.

The basics.

  • Passport

  • State or Country Identification (some form of Photo ID)

  • Cash and Credit/Debit Cards

  • Hotel Reservation Info

  • Bank Contact Info (just in case)

  • Copies of Your Passport, Driver's License


Quick tip: Before planning to use your credit card for international travel, check with the credit card provider and make sure they don't charge international transaction fees. These fees add up quickly and can really 

  • Sunglasses

  • Cell Phone and Phone Charger

  • Trip Itinerary and/or Ticket

  • Your Keys

  • Medications (Prescription, or items for headaches, stomach issues, sea sickness, etc.)

  • Facial Tissues

  • Chapstick/Lip Balm (with SPF)

  •  Glasses and/or Contact Lenses

  • Travel Pillow (and blanket for longer flights)

  • Wet Wipes  (to clean your tray table on the plane) 

  • Umbrella


  • Toothbrush and Toothpaste

  • Mouthwash

  • Dental Floss

  • Deodorant

  • Perfume or Cologne

  • Washcloth (and towel, if you prefer not to use the facilities)

  • Shower Cap

  • Baby Powder (especially if you're traveling to somewhere hot)

  • Compact Mirror

  • Nail File/Emory Board/Nail Clippers

  • Razors and Shaving Cream

  • Feminine Hygiene Products

  • Hair Care Products (comb, brush, bobby pins)

  • Moisturizer and Lotion

  • SPF (very, very important)

  • Stain Remover Wipes or Stick

  • Lint Roller

Health & Wellbeing.

  • Hand Sanitizer

  • Tweezers

  • Band-Aids

  • Neosporin (this has saved me too many times to count)

  • Multivitamins

  • Sleeping Aids (another lifesaver!)

  • Motion Sickness Medications

  • Headache and Upset Stomach Medications

  • Allergy Medications

  • Sunburn Gel/Aloe Cream  (if you're prone to sunburn)

  • Sleep Eye Mask

  • Ear Plugs


Of course this depends on where you are headed and how long you'll be there, so take from this list the things you find most helpful.​


  • Closed-toe water shoes

  • Shoes you don't mind getting dirty or throwing out

  • Inexpensive t-shirts (these might have to be thrown out too)


  • Bathing suit(s)

  • Sun hat

  • Sunglasses


  • Sarong/Bathing Suit Cover-Up

  • Flip Flops

  • Tote Bag


  • Sneakers

  • Yoga pant or shorts

  • Sports bra

  • Socks
